Steve Camps 20thC Cornish school oil on board

Steve Camps (b 1957) is an artist based in Cornwall. He paints in the established and very popular naive manner of Alfred Wallis, Fred Yates etc. Much more can be found about Camps on the internet, and he is represented by a gallery in Falmouth. His paintings entertain and amuse and have clearly found a niche. They sell very quickly. This one comes from my private collection: I have decided to sell three of them.

This painting is typical of his work using his favourite motifs of a whale, a ship and a lighthouse. He also often includes a bird, as here.

The painting is simply framed in white-washed pine. The outer measures 19" x 15" (approx 48 x 38cms) and the image size is approx 1¾" (4.5cms) smaller.
