A George II style Second World War oak and brass peat or coal bucket

SOLD

A George III style peat bucket, complete with zinc liner, constructed from oak staves and bound with brass banding (one band fractured) and a folding brass handle. A small finger handle in brass is also there to aid tipping.
Most recently used for coal, in my opinion.

This bucket has all the appearance of a Georgian piece, but bears a zinc label on the inside to show that it was constructed from the wood salvaged from old British warships, in commemorations of Sir Winston Churchill and his famous VE Day speech 6th May 1945.
