Very good 19thC Sheffield Cutler’s Stool

This excellent cutlers stool in ash an elm is typical of the style found only in Sheffield. The ring turning on the legs and the shape and scale of the seat are the features that locate it firmly, where it would have been used by the makers of, mainly, scissors as they move between grinding and polishing machines. The tripod legs ensured a steady seat with no wobble about on the brick floors of the factory.

Height is 54cms (21¼") and condition is excellent, even outstanding. Age circa 1820-1830.
