Silver and Enamel feather brooch for Holland & Holland

A simply stunning green enamel and silver brooch modelled as a feather. It is fully hallmarked on the back for makers Harrison and Hipwood and assayed in Birmingham in 1995. Further, it carries an engraved mark for the famous gun makers Holland & Holland who would have commissioned it.
I can only guess as to its purpose, but perhaps it was a prize in a shooting competition. What an elegant and cherished award it would have been.

It is beautifully made, and in A1 condition; five out of five. It measures approx 4.5cms long. It has a good straight bar at the back, and closes with a locking C catch.
