A silver swizzle stick from the 1930s

SOLD

A good 1930s silver swizzle stick. These were carried by ladies in their evening bag or perhaps suspended on a chain around their neck. It was to swizzle in a glass of chamagne or other fizzy drink to calm the bubbles in an attempt to prevent those unladylike burps.
It opens and closes by a slider, with the arms emerging to swizzle and then trucks away neatly into a discreet tube of silver. A charming piece and it would make a fantastic addition to any drinks cabinet and, of course, no cocktail barman should ever be with out one.

This sterling silver stick was made by Deakin & Francis and is hallmarked for Birmingham, 1931.

Condition is very good and the slider operates smoothly.

The swizzle stick is 14.5 cms long open and 8.5 cms long closed, excluding th link ring. It is clearly and readable hallmarked.
