Gilt and glass jewellery casket

A 19thC gilt metal framed jewellery box or casket. With a clear glass, snap close, lid and a satin liner to the base these boxes were often used as ring boxes, so that when not being worn the ring can still be admired. And why not? It can still fulfil the same function today: a lovely piece and in excellent condition.
